How to Use Your Fire Extinguisher

1/22/2021 (Permalink)

Any fire extinguisher needs to be inspected regularly to make sure it's in good working order.

You DO have a fire extinguisher, right?

The New York Times recommends the First Alert PRO5.  It exceeds minimum size recommendations, only weighs ten pounds, has a metal valve instead of plastic, and can be recharged!

Perhaps you remember the acronym P.A.S.S.?

To help remember, you'll PASS on a fire.

P is for Pull. The silver ring threaded through the handles.  Pull it out and just drop it.

A is for AIM. Aim the hose or the nozzle at the BASE of the fire.

Squeeze the handles together and Sweep back and forth.

Not so tough, but super important.

Pull Aim Squeeze and Sweep to PASS on a fire!

SERVPRO of West Amarillo will help to get rid of the smoke smell, and to clean up the soot in your Amarillo home.

You'll be happy to see your home back to looking "Like it never even happened."
